Amelia wasn't scared nor worried. Her father had her placed in the west wing of the estate so that she would be comfortable. Her bedroom was in the main part of the estate, but they had luxurious rooms in the west wing. It wasn't Amelia's style, luxurious and overly done, but it was very comfortable indeed. Her first heat was going to go smoothly.

As she panted, wishing to quell the fire inside her body, which writhed on the bed, she could have sworn she heard something. It sounded like someone had screamed. But that was absurd. Why would anyone be screaming at this hour in the evening? As her breathing picked up and she went about trying to drink water from the nearby tray, in an attempt at putting out the fires, she heard something else. It sounded as though someone was approaching the room. Along with the footsteps down the hall, a scent greeted her. Taking in a deep breath, she could feel a gasp come from her. What was that?

Moving back over to the bed, standing beside one of the posters of the four poster bed, her arms were wrapped around it as she peered over at the door. The scent was getting stronger and she wished for it to come to her. Amelia wanted it, needed it. She had never felt this way before and that worried her. Was it an alpha? Her inner omega tried to persuade her, that if it was an alpha, it would be good, that they were amazing. She was unsure, but as the doors opened and that scent, a metallic scent mixed with the smell of fresh linen, hit her, she inhaled deeply. He smelt so divine! It reminded her of coins going through the laundry. Fresh and metallic.

She moved about the bed then, not really saying much. Her inner omega wanted to cross the room and kiss him, passionately, but she fought to stay by the bed. Her thoughts shifted to how he had gotten in here, but that thought flitted away just as quickly as it had come. Biting her lip, Amelia chewed on it for a moment before she moved away from the bed. Walking slowly toward him, all she said was, "Is it you?" As if he would know what she was asking. She wanted to know if he was her mate, if he was her alpha. But he probably wouldn't get it. It was in that instant that her omega won and she rushed to him, her hands wrapping around his neck, her lips pressed to his, a low moan coming from her. What was this feeling surging through her system?

LIVING IN MATED TO

Fenris
28 YEARS OLD
Assassin
Male
Heterosexual

Will you dance with the devil
in the pale moonlight?

He was a monster. A beast. A fiend. The thing that went bump in the night. A killer...a killer that had just slaughtered her family. And it wasn't until the girl flew into his arms and pressed her lips against his that he felt regret for the first time in his life. How had he even ended up in this situation anyway?

--------

Flashback

Damon stood silently in front of the quaint home of three. He had been requested to put an end to the head of the household and anyone else that lived there. Of course, the client had attempted to explain to Damien the why. But the killer had refused. Rule #1: Never ask questions. After receiving a rough description of the primary target, details of the layout of the house, and express instructions what he was to do with the property after he was done, Damien had been on his way.

Now here he was, seconds away from commencing the job ahead and for some reason, something struck him as odd. The scent of his house was...obscured. Not that it was hidden by magic but there were other things, natural things, that made it difficult for him to discern what was what. Brushing the thought aside, the assassin clung to the shadows as he made his approach to the house. When he reached the building, Damien lept to the roof, sliding one of the windows open, he slipped inside of the home undetected.

From what he was told, the target would be downstairs this time of night...his wife would be in the kitchen. Which made it an easy consecutive kill. What he hadn't counted on was the additional scent that hit him like a tone of bricks the moment he stepped into the hallway. It smelt of flowers, a sweetness that reminded him of honey. It called to him. Unfortunately, by the time he regained his composure, Damien lifted his head only to lock eyes with that of the primary target. The father he had come to kill. The look in the man's eyes was fear...but it wasn't of death. It wasn't of Damien. Whatever it was seemed to be in a room located behind the assassin. Something he would investigate after he actually did his job. "This is...unexpected. I'd prefer if you didn't run, Mr. Walton. It will not save you..."

Amelia had no way of knowing the atrocities that this man had committed, all she knew, was that something drew her to him. And that something had to do with her heat right now. She didn't even care who he was, as this felt right. But how long would that feeling last?

Flashback

Mr. Walton had been feeling on edge tonight. He knew that his daughter was going to have her heat and that was nerve wracking. He had made sure everything would be perfect. No one would disturb her tonight and she would start the new medications soon enough. They were just going through the last of the trial period and Amelia would be the first to have them. Nothing but the best for his daughter. His family really did mean the world to him.

A few hours into his daughter's seclusion, he had an odd feeling that he should go check on her. It was a nagging feeling that only grew wary the closer he got to the secluded wing of the house. That's when he saw a man, someone who wasn't supposed to be here. Mr. Walton had no idea who he was. But he could tell one thing, this man, was an alpha. His fear rose in his chest. He couldn't allow this man anywhere near Amelia.

When the man turned around and gave Mr. Walton the chance to see what was visible of his face, he couldn't help his gaze flicking to the door behind the man. There was a lump at the back of his throat. What did he say? Mr. Walton should have known something like this would happen. He had enemies in the pharmaceutical world who deeply opposed his new drug. And it was justified, as when it would be completed, it would wipe their suppressants off the map. However, that was not meant to be, he thought to himself.

"I don't know why you're here. But please, have mercy." he begged, but his eyes were on the door behind the man, the entire time. When he finally brought his gaze to meet the man's eyes, he knew what was going to happen. He just hoped that this man would spare his daughter. He and his wife had lived long lives. It wasn't right for Amelia's to be cut short because he had aspired too high.

"I assume you were sent here to dispose of me and my research, I should have known this would happen. I could have protected her much better if I had been wiser," he chuckled with a sad mirth in his voice. "I won't run," he said, straightening up and hoping for the best. He just had to hold out hope that his daughter would be all right.
